Join us on Saturday the 27th of March 2021 at Hao Hao Laugh's Studio in Jing'An Shanghai for a 3 hour session that caters to your wellness.

We will offer an eventful afternoon where you start out by exploring yourself and how to bring calm to your life through breathwork and meditation taught by Shreni Shukla. Through breathwork you'll be taken on a deep inner journey very quickly and explore and heal yourself in ways you did not know about.

After our mindfulness sessions, we will pivot into another part of "self-care" and "self-exploration" - Shibarithe art of Japanese Rope Bondage.

Through Shibari one you will practices patience, healthy communication, trust and elements to spice up your sex life.

Shibari historically has been used as a form of meditation, relaxation, and trust-building practice between two partners.

Shibari is not only about the sensation of restriction but also about the intimate connection between the rigger and receiver.

What is Shibari?

Shibari is a contemporary form of rope bondage. Sometimes it's also referred to as Kinbaku - Japanese bondage. Different from regular bondage, where you can use handcuffs, tape ties, scarves etc, in Shibari you use rope or rope-like materials to bind yourself and your partner.

Why should I try Shibari?

Excellent question! Roping practices have long been practiced and require high levels of trust and communication. With Shibari, it goes a step further by exploring a more intimate and emotionally-binding component to it.

“The play between the power dynamics and the release of control from the bottom to the top creates an intimate dance of trust and connection between partners. This often creates deep emotional connection, sometimes experienced as crying, euphoria or simply a feeling of a deeper connection,”  - sex educator Rucifer.

Do I need to bring a partner?

No, you can come together but you can also come alone. The talented Hua Hua will demonstrate Shibari and she will create a safe space where you can test this on yourself (and your partner).

Who is teaching the Shibari?

Hua Hua from Borderline Shanghai. Hua Hua has ran Shibari seminars & workshops in Shanghai for over 4 years. You might also know her for her event in collaboration with underwear brand, Sirloin, at In The Park. Find more about Hua Hua and her events in Shanghai here.

Do I go naked during this workshop?

No, the Shibari will be performed with your clothes on.

Does Shibari hurt?

Not unless you want it to. Shibari is about mindset, practicing roping in the moment and allowing yourself the space and tools to communicate and feel what you like and not like. Moreover, pain is very arbitrary and subjective. Some might enjoy it and find the slight struggle or ‘pain’ can further develop the experience and meditative process as it allows you to enter a more focused and body aware mindset.

In what language do you teach?

Mainly in Mandarin, but we are present ourselves so we can always explain in English if needed. Hua Hua speaks mandarin and english too so we got you covered on both ends.

Is this event for girls only or can men come too?

This is a girls only event. We participated in one of the events ourselves before and while it's a great experience for couples, we think Shibari is a great learning experience to do by yourself or with your girlfriends. Knowing your own body, what you like and what brings you pleasure is one of the foundations for a healthy and playful relationship.
