Masturbation Month

Happy Masturbation Month Babies! Why exactly do we need a month dedicated to the topic of masturbation? First started in 1995 by a San Francisco sex shop Good Vibrations in response to the firing of then-Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders who suggested masturbation should be included in youth sex education programs.

Out of all the sex people can have, masturbation is the most normal, universal and natural part. This is the month where we will continue to advocate to freely talk about masturbation and educate more about it!

Did-You-Know?

Vaccination & Periods

There has been claims and soundbites from our community and online that following vaccination, some women are experiencing a change in their period. Claims and soundbites range from menstrual period getting heavier, lighter, or varied in duration.

There is lack of evidence that the vaccine directly affects menstrual cycles. Also, on any given day, 800 million people around the globe are menstruating. With more people getting vaccinated also means the more anecdotal and subjective the stories are about the side effects.

However, we do know that the menstrual cycle is closely affected by hormones and hormones can be influenced by external factors such as stress. In a time that is stressful (whether you feel it or not), or underlining stress about receiving the vaccine, could potentially influence the cycle to bleed heavier, lighter, delayed or more.

Lastly, we also know that during menstrual cycles, the immune system could be lowered and suppressed which could potentially cause stronger reaction post vaccination. Doctor Zhang from Military Hospital 960 in China suggests to avoid times during or close to your period.
